Advertising, Sponsorship & Affiliate Disclosure

Black Tide Operations Ltd owns and operates blogs, newsletters and social media accounts. Our brands are Local Brand Secrets, The Sunny Nunny, The Tan Girl, The Gamers Seat and The Evening Vibes. Most of what we publish is free, and sponsors, advertisers and, sometimes, affiliate links help pay for it. This policy applies to this website, our newsletter and our brands' websites, newsletters and social media accounts. How we label paid content

• Sponsored content and ads are always clearly labelled, for example as "Sponsored", "Ad" or "In partnership with", so you can tell straight away what's been paid for.
• If we're paid, given a product or service for free, or get anything else of value for a mention, we say so next to it.
• Ads placed for us by an ad network are labelled in the same way.
• Everything else is chosen by us, not by sponsors or advertisers.

Affiliate links

Some of our content may include affiliate links. If you buy something through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We'll always say when a link is an affiliate link, close to the link itself and not hidden in small print. Earning a commission doesn't change what we recommend.

On social media

On social media, we label paid, gifted and affiliate posts clearly and up front, for example with "Ad" or "#ad", and we use each platform's paid partnership tools where they're available.

Our editorial independence

Sponsors and advertisers don't get to approve, change or veto our content or opinions, and paying for a slot doesn't buy a good review. We only work with businesses we're happy to put in front of our readers, and we can turn down any ad.

Your data and sponsors

We don't sell your personal data or give your email address to sponsors or advertisers. We may share combined figures that don't identify you, such as the number of opens or clicks on a sponsored slot. Our Privacy Policy has the details.

Rules we follow

We follow the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising (the CAP Code), enforced by the Advertising Standards Authority, and the Competition and Markets Authority's guidance on social media endorsements. In short: ads must be obviously identifiable as ads.
